Week beginning 2nd December

Information and Events

Packed Lunches

Concerns have been raised about the quality of packed lunches that some children are bringing in from home.  School has a duty of care around the complete well-being of children and this includes their diet.  Every child in the school is entitled to a free school lunch, which is nutritionally balanced to meet the needs of young children.  It ensures they have the correct vitamins, calories and variety of foods.

A lot of parents are opting to make their children a packed lunch.  This is an unnecessary cost and I am sure takes time.  Some packed lunches are clearly very well thought out and the children have a lovely healthy variety.  However, this is not the majority.  Last week, one child had 6 chocolate items in their lunch box.  If children are bringing in a lunch from home, we would expect it to contain a healthy nutritious balance of food.  Below is a link that demonstrates the kinds of swaps you can make to support your child’s well-being.

We would welcome more children taking up the offer of a free school meal. Please let the office staff know if you would like to change from packed lunches to free school meals.  This request takes two weeks to action.

Story Wall

We will be turning the fence at the entrance to the school into a story wall next week.  We hope you enjoy sharing our first book with the children!

Christmas Jumper Day

We will be having a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13th December.  The children can wear a Christmas Jumper if they have one or add a bit of tinsel/sparkle to an item of clothing they like (Pease don’t feel you have to buy anything new).  We will be asking for a £1.00 donation towards the School fund.

Turning Tides and Children in Need

I have received a letter of thanks from Turning Tides for all your harvest donations. The generosity of people across Worthing means they have supplies for several months to come.

We also raised over £200 on our Mufti Day for Children in Need – thank you for supporting this.

After School Care

Please find attached information about this weeks exciting Energy Kidz theme.  If you would like your child to try a session, please contact Energy Kidz.
