Week Beginning 16th September 2019
Information and Events
Now all the children have started school, I would like to let you know a little bit more about how we design our curriculum. Alongside delivering the content of the National Curriculum, the school has four Curriculum Cornerstones:
Our Curriculum Cornerstones are designed to enrich vocabulary (The Power of Talk), build personal confidence (Growth Mindset), encourage aspirations (Broadening Horizons) and make the most of our immediate school environment (Love of the Natural World).
The children talk about this through our learning values:
Challenge Yourself; Believe in Yourself; Be Curious; Have Fun (They can even sing you a song about it!)
As part of our Broadening Horizons cornerstone, we would like to arrange for people to talk to the children about the jobs they do so the children begin to understand the variety of careers they could have in the future. If you or someone you know, would like to come to school to talk to classes and answer some questions from the children, we would love to hear from you. Please let the office staff know.
We have had a fantastic start to the year for attendance. We had 100% of year two children in for 2 days last week and both Badger and Swan had 100% attendance all week and earned an extra play.
Please remember that I am unable to authorise holidays during term time and unauthorised absence of 5 days or more will be referred to the pupil entitlement team.
As Linda is unable to work the crossing patrol for the foreseeable future, West Sussex are asking for a volunteer. They will provide training and a uniform. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please speak to the office staff.
We are continuing to add content to the new website and the calendar is now up to date.
All the children will have received a voucher for a session at our after school club. This will need to be used by the end of November. Please pop into the office if you did not receive a voucher.
